NEVERENDING BATTLE AGAINST DOLLAR GENERAL – UPDATE

It’s now four years since this battle begun, and we’re still winning.

Last year, the Joshua Tree Downtown Business Alliance won its case against Dollar General’s developers in CEQA (California Environmental Quality Act) court.

The Dollar General developers have appealed that decision to the 4th Circuit Court of Appeal, and opening briefs have been filed by both sides. The next step is for the Court to assign a date for the three-judge panel to hear oral arguments. A ruling will be issued sometime after the oral arguments are made.

It is hard to say what the timeline on all of this will be, but the bottom line is that no Dollar General is going to be built in Joshua Tree anytime soon. And that’s a good thing for us, and bad for Dollar General and their developers, Dynamic Development and Depierro Development Corporation.
